Using video to connect.
Thanks to Mike Mueller's constant push to get me to use video (something I wanted to do, but just hadn't quite got to yet), i have finally entered the vlogging world. Using Seesmic, I recorded the video above (although it took me what seemed like hours, because I kept messing up). My idea is to provide a certain element of "face to face" with my readers...let's call it "screen to screen" time. For my first video, I think it's ok, but I will improve them as time passes. This one is a little long, but hopefully, it will encourage my readers to engage and comment. Seesmic also offers a Wordpress plugin that enables readers to reply with video (it also allows you to post video straight for the Wordpress admin interface).
I think video has real potential because it allows a bit more of a connection with people. Instead of just reading my words, you can hear me - you get to know me. You can see my quirks and hear the inflection of my voice. It also allows me to be "me." If you haven't tried video yet, give it a shot. It's about as frustrating as starting out in blogging, but it will add a new dimension to your blogging that you might otherwise miss out on. I also think that that it presents an opportunity to me as an agent in San Antonio, as not everyone is doing it.

A second chance:
As the conversation unfolded in the comments below, it seemed there was a consensus that I needed to reshoot the video. Well, I finally got it done, so let's open this back up to the comments and see what your thoughts are now. It still has room for improvements, but I think this one might be a little better this time around.
