San Antonio has a few hidden gems.
You would hardly ever know O.P. Schanbel Park existed if you whizzed by it on Bandera Road. Located at the intersection of Bandera and Braun Roads (map), this seemingly tiny little park is a lot bigger than you might think. Full of walking trails (with some great views overlooking bluffs towards Prue Road), this is the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll or some more serious exercise time. It also boast several soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts, the Braundera YMCA, a swimming pool (with water slides), and plenty of nature to enjoy. Next time you want to take a break from it all, head on over to O.P. Schnabel Park and take a stroll through the tree-shaded walkways and beat the Texas heat.
