Anyone who knows me, knows I am a big fan of KB Home's Woods of Alon community at NW Military (just south of Wurzbach). I have been holding open houses there for the past month on on of their inventory home (2919 Zurich) and you can find me there just about every weekend from 12-3. Why do I love the community so much?
A different idea of a community.
Woods Of Alon takes the idea of "community" to a new level. KB Home is building walking trails throughout the communtiy, including one that will connect to the new Alon Town Centre (anchored by a new gorgeous HEB and Barnes and Noble), so that residents will be able to stroll down to the shops and restaurants directly from their community. That walking trail will also have gated access for residents as will the two main entrances (the already completed entrance on NW Military and the upcoming one at Wurzbach).
Trees not only look nice, they're good for you too.
I hate watching builders flatten the land, strip of trees, build houses, then replant tiny trees that someday will look great, but for now, look like little twigs in the front yard. It seems counter-productive to me and when you buy a house like that, by the time that tree looks great, you've probably already moved on. KB Home worked hard to save native trees on every plot and provide large green areas for the community. Several of the home sites look out on the "green area" (including the home at 2919 Zurich), so you don't get as much of the "crowding" you get in many builder-communities.

Voelker Park right next door.
Just across NW Military lies Voelker Park, a 311 acre city park with plans for miles of walking trails, and lots of open space. If you've walked the community's walking trails and are ready for something new, just a short walk across the street you'll have plenty of new trails to discover.
Everyone loves Energy Star.
The homes are all Energy Star qualified and will help save energy, costs, and the environment. These days consumers are looking for more "green" options in their homes.
2919 Zurich - 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2018 square feet
The home at 2919 Zurich is currently listed at $278,643 and is a gorgeous home (the Lone Star floorplan). Hand scraped woods floors throughout (except bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room, which are all tile), upgraded Whirlpool appliances, upgraded lighting, cabinets, Silestone countertops (that look just like granite), full house gutters, and many other upgrades and features make this house a gorgeous place to call "home." This home looks out onto the green belt area and while I've been there I've seen some beautiful wildlife out back (deer, woodpeckers, and black squirrels). Stop by some weekend and say hello and check it out for yourself!
