Expect new look when you renew.
On April 15, the Texas Department Of Public Safety began producing a new version of the Texas Driver License (shown above). Redesigned in an effort to combat counterfeiting, photo swapping, tampering and other types of fraud, the new license design contains several new security features, which the Texas Department Of Public Safety would not discuss. Expect to receive the new license with the Austin Skyline at the top when you renew your license or if you're getting your first one or replacing a lost or stolen card. The current design will be phased out as the licenses expire.
If you need to renew your Texas Driver License or have questions about them, please visit the Texas Department Of Public Safety's website.

Matt, did you hear that Texas is outlawing facial hair on Drivers Licenses, too? It's their attempt at trying to limit the number of terrorists in your neck of the woods. LOL
Matt - Really? This doesn't look so Texas like. Oh well. I'm glad I rarely look at mine, when I do it's because some cop has asked for it. Zoom-Zoom!
Randy - I guess I'm in big trouble then. They also changed the designs for non-citizens and permanent residents awhile ago.
Greg - Just slow down as you pass through San Antonio so I can wave hello. I don't love the design either and I'm sure people will complain about it - we're Texans, we don't like anything that doesn't look "Texas."
Well, the weirdest thing to me is that nearly all of the images on the card are from Austin...You know it is often said that when you leave Austin, you are back in Texas! HA HAH!
Russell - Enough with your Austin love! Its all about San Antonio - we all know that! Haha.
Poor Janice Sample of Anytown, TX risks having her identity stolen with all this publicity. :)
Keith - She told me I could use her image and info. I think she stole it from someone on the internet anyway, so not to worry.
This is a pathetic design for Texas. Texas should take a look at Virginia's design. It does discourage fruad. Guess Texas is behind a lot of States.
