San Antonio has a few hidden gems.
You would hardly ever know O.P. Schanbel Park existed if you whizzed by it on Bandera Road. Located at the intersection of Bandera and Braun Roads (map), this seemingly tiny little park is a lot bigger than you might think. Full of walking trails (with some great views overlooking bluffs towards Prue Road), this is the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll or some more serious exercise time. It also boast several soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts, the Braundera YMCA, a swimming pool (with water slides), and plenty of nature to enjoy. Next time you want to take a break from it all, head on over to O.P. Schnabel Park and take a stroll through the tree-shaded walkways and beat the Texas heat.

Jason - I had been thinking about it as a possible site for some video, but you helped me get out there and do it. You just wait until I have a Flip - then you're all in trouble.
This is an excellent post of a local San Antonio park.
And when you do finally get that Flip, you're going to love it.
I've got one and it's truly a great little piece of equipment for video blogging, YouTubing and the like.
Well done my friend!
I'm trying to find out how to create a video within the Youtube video. I have seen some Youtube videos like that. For example there are some WP tutorials at YouTube using pointers in the main part of the screen with themselves speaking in a smaller square in the lower left or lower right of the screen. Do you know how to do that or what software allows its user to do that?
Matt - very cool entry. Great info for area residents!
Shirley - Thanks. Have you ever been over there? Not exactly your side of town, but worth the trip!
Jason - I did the audio separately, you are correct. I just went in, extracted the audio (using iMovie), deleted it (it was all just noise of wind blowing into the camera), then sat in front of the computer and recorded new audio. I even was able to go back and edit out a few mistakes (just like "punching in" at a recording studio really). If you have iMovie, it's simple. Anything outside of that, I'm not too familiar with.
Lana - If they're doing something with the screen (their screen is the video) and you can see them, I wonder if they're not just using their webcam and bringing it up on their screen as they go through the screen capture process (what they want to show you). You can probably do it with some video editing software as well, but I'm not sure. I'll have to look into it.
Kim - Well now you know where to send your clients when they take a vacation to San Antonio. We're not just the Riverwalk and the Alamo! Haha.
Hi Matt! Great video--I'm impressed that you can extract the 'wind' that is so bothersome to me! Does this mean you use a Mac? (a whole OTHER conversation!!)
Debe - Yes, I am Mac through and through. The wind on this was even worse than normal as the camera is not designed as a video camera at all, it just happens to have that functionality. I knew the sound would be bad, so I was planning on just adding music or a voice over of some sort. I don't love the video, but it was a good first step.
Matt - this place is a hidden gem. My kids played softabll and t-ball there. Four fields tucked under some beautiful live oaks. You cant find that set up anywhere these days. The fileds need some work but it would not take too much $$ to make it an outstanding place to play ball!
Graig - I was shocked the first time I went there, I couldn't believe the trails through there. The changes in landscape from the park entrance to the back of the trails (with the cliffs overlooking the area around Prue Road) was completely unexpected. I need to visit the park now that I have a much better video camera. This was my first attempt at localized video. San Antonio has some nice parks. I can't think of the name of the one on Grissom Road, but the trails there cross through the Culebra Creek and when it's dry, it's an interesting look at our local landscape.
I'd love to see the city to sink a bit more money into the park, with the growth of the Northwest side of town, they could easily make it a destination for the area. I still have yet to get over to Voelcker Park, which was another great idea on the city's part.
