There's a time when a man must decide.
I reached one of those point recently. Do I continue in my current position or do I seek out other like minded individuals who can help me move to a new level of success and determination? From the logo, I think you can guess what I chose. I spent a lot of time thinking about the different things I wanted to find in a new office and when Sheila Moran called me to sit down and talk, I took a shot and sat down with her and Pat O'Brien. What I found were two people who listened to what I had to say, gave me their take on my situation, and expressed their interest in getting me to be the best agent I can be. My head was swimming with thoughts by the time I was done, but I wanted to sit with my wife and discuss the potential move as well as call my trusted real estate friend, @LaniAR.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
It's never easy to make a change, but after my discussions with Sheila and Pat, I knew I had found my new home. A team that takes advantage of technology (I've had more texts and tweets from them in one day then you can imagine - I love it), is creative, smart, and dedicated to giving their clients the best; well it was pretty simple to choose.
While some agents will rave about RE/MAX and the benefits they will provide me, to be honest, I'd follow Sheila and her sister Kristin to just about any company. For me, the people in the office are what make the difference. I have been speaking to Kristin for a long time and always thought she seemed like a great person and a great agent (and she brought me to ActiveRain). When I finally met her sister, I knew there was something there that would help motivate and inspire me to do better. Only time will tell the true benefits of my choice, but as of today, I'm feeling great about the future.
Of course, it helps that I'm surrounded by so many great agents too. I look forward to making friends with my office mates and think this team can "rock" San Antonio.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Congratulations, I am thnking about making a change too, for very much the same reason. How did you tell your old broker/manager? What reason did you give?
Nadine is the best and has a great heart. Learn from her also.
Matt, I wish you the best as you journey toward a more successful career!
Lisa - I went in the office to tell him, but he wasn't there. We wound up having a brief phone chat about it, but I went and sat with him for awhile today. He was good about it. I actually had a great time with my broker and he taught me a lot (and my new broker was once an agent of his), so it wasn't a case of sneaking off in the middle of the night or anything. He wished me the best. I told him how I had been feeling - that I wasn't feeling like I was challenging myself enough and that I needed an office that embraced technology. Sheila (my new broker) made me realize while we spoke that I needed to push myself a little further and I think based on what I know of those in the office, I will be surrounded by those that will challenge me and get me to new levels of success. It's a tough decision and of course, I recommend thinking it through as best as you can, but in the end, there's something to be said for gut feel.
Faye - I have yet to meet Nadine, but now look forward to it even more.
Wanda - Thanks, I think this is going to be a big step for me. Little nervous, little scared, but more excited than either.
Good for you Matt, If I were ever in the market o change to a national franchise, I would probably choose ReMax, the majority of the agents I've dealt with from there over the years have been of good quality and experience. Best to you in your new place of business!
I left you a message on your cell...
Matt, congratulations. RE/MAX is a great company. I was there for 12 years, then it closed, it is in the process of re-opening but I am going to stay put, too much change and Remax and KW are very much alike. Can't wait to hear more about this, on AG?
Good luck Matt,
I'm coming up 13 years with RE/MAX and it's been great. I love having the Brand name behind me. I never have to explain what I do when I mention the name.
Congratulations and good luck on the new direction for the RErockstar!
Matt, You will do well and I agree...I have told Sheila for years that I would go to any office she opened, just did realize that it would be so soon. But you are right those sisters are a powerful team and create a great office atmosphere!
Hi Matt... Congratulations on your office move. May it take you to the next level of success and beyond!
Matt: Sounds like you have the right attitude. I'm sure you'll do very well. Cheers!
I'm glad to hear that you "hooked up" with these two great ladies! Congrats on making the move.
Featured in the Group "Whacked!!!"
Congratulations Matt and good luck. I absolutely love REMax and I know you will succeed, not because of ReMax but because it's clear you are motivated, determined, and have been inspired to succeed!
Congrats again Matt. I know you will do great things @ Access & I look forward to working with you & learning from you. My only wish is that the office were closer!
Good luck Matt in your new endeavor.
Here's wishing you all the success and happiness you deserve.
Matt,
We are thrilled & excited!
New doors are going to be opening for you...
Looking forward to your awesome growth!
Real quick before I run out the door...
It's awesome here. Everyone is great and super helpful (it's always awkward the first few days).
Greg - I haven't had five minutes to set aside to chat, but I will definitely call you.
Thanks everyone!
Matt, making a change is so hard so I really respect you for going for it. I love where I am. When I don't anymore, I'll do the same. The people I work with can really make the office what it is. Good for you!
Matt - Congratulations to you and best of luck on your new endeavor with RE/MAX!
Matt,
No worries, I've made huge strides with the questions I had.
Change is always slightly frightening. Sheila Moran really helped me see that it's normal when we first sat down. We talked about it in relationship to her experiences and mine, so I had two points of view to think about. It is a bit nerve wracking to make a sort of leap of faith into a new home (imagine how a buyer feels?), but it has also provided me with an instant urge to make my mark. So far the change is working well (and I think it will only get better from here).
Congratulations on your move, Matt! Can't wait to hear how it goes from here on out!
Colleen - Thanks for stopping by! Don't you worry, I'll keep you posted. We still have to get coffee once we're both settled down a bit more.
Matt sorry but I thought you were with Remax before - where were you? Well congrats on the move and I know you'll be in Terrific company! And I so agree with you - that its not the company but the people that run it that make the difference! :-)
Liz - I was with Exit before this. It's been a great few days already and I'm loving it.
Matt - Rock on ! Sounds like a great move as you will have great people around you. Change is good ! Good luck and keep everyone posted on the transition.
Chris - It has been a great move. I'm getting busy already and love the environment of our office. Plus, I'm dealing with Sheila and Kristin Moran, so life can't be all that bad. I can't wait for the next few months to go by so I can give a great progress report.
(I sent in an offer yesterday, so that's a great start!)
Matt you are going to love RE/MAX. If you are a producer which I am sure you are, there is no better place to be.
Bill - It's been a week and I'm enjoying it, so it can only get better from here!
Best of luck with Re/Max Access Matt! It sounds like you are off the a great start and I have no doubt you will be happy with you decision!
HOORAH! yey! Angela
Terrie - It's been amazing. Currently have 3 contracts and 1 new listing in 2 1/2 weeks. Working on two more listings and have two buyers working - one with an offer in. Not bad at all.
Angela - When I have a second, we should catch up. Haven't spoken in quite some time.
Congrats with your move! Change is always good, especially if you find the perfect fit.
Frank - How's your move working out for you? It's been awhile for you now, hasn't it? My move was definitely to the right place that is a perfect fit.
Matt,
the move went great, a smooth transition. I really like the company and have settled in.
Frank - Great to hear. I hope it continues for you! Perhaps someday we'll get to work together.
Matt, I look forward to it. Take care.
