Are we there yet?
After quite a bit of rain over the last few weeks, San Antonio has had it's Stage Two Water Restrictions lifted. In order for SAWS to remove the Stage Two Restrictions, the Edwards Aquifer levels had to remain about 650 feet for at least 30 days (as measured at the J-17 monitoring station). We achieved these levels back on September 11 (650.1 feet) and have remained above 650 since then.
Break out the sprinklers!
Wait, not just yet. As Stage Two Water Restrictions are lifted, Stage One Water Restrictions become the enforced policy. To learn more about what this means, read "Every Drop Counts – Stage 1 Water Restrictions Begin" over at RErockstar.com. It will take 30 days of water levels in the Edwards Aquifer to remain above 660 feet in order to have Stage One Restrictions removed at which point we will be back to normal conditions with no restrictions in place.
Of course, with all this wet weather we've been having, there is little need for your sprinklers right now anyway. The ground is very moist and with the cooler weather is staying moist as well. It's a good idea to not over-saturate your lawns and plants (this can actually cause many diseases and rot), so check soil conditions before deciding to draw more water out of the aquifer.

woo hoo! Water water everywhere... Now go out and buy some fire wood. We will be needing it soon!
FINALLY! Actually the rain has helped immensely here in Austin too especially with plants and underground water resources as the table is starting to rise. However, Lake Travis is still 55 feet low..That's about 5 1/2 stories...but I am not complaining!
I'm not positive, but I can't imagine that we still have the same restrictions in place here, either. It feels like we're living in Portland or Seattle lately. :)
Shirley - My wife broke out a blanket and I broke out my favorite hooded sweatshirt this weekend.
Russell and Jason - I think you have seen more rain than we have up there. I'm just happy to have a green backyard, even if it is mostly weeds.
Congratulations! Now send some of that rain over here! Oh wait, actually, there is a typhoon headed our way due to hit in the next 24 hours. It's going to give Reno it's total annual precipitation of 6.36" in one storm!
Matt, I just can't get RAIN and San Antonio into my head! Here in Sequim we boast about our rain as rarely exceeding 19 inches in a year. We have been on water alert--as in conservation. And tomorrow looks like it might brew up a storm (I'm headed toward FORKS--yes, that Forks--and beyond, with a fellow Realtor to show a waterfront home. YIKES. Good tips about not overwatering--it really does cause rot.
Hi Matt... Congratulations. We've been getting a lot of the wet stuff up here lately too, but we didn't suffer the drought you did. All in all, I prefer the sun, with an occasional storm.
