Frank And Sally Explain Real Estate: Episode 1
Meet Frank and his agent, Sally.
In trying to come up with a simple breakdown of the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit, I thought that video would be the answer. Since I've done a few for the previous tax credit, I wanted to find a new way to use video to explain it all. Enter Frank and Sally. In this video, Frank's agent Sally, helps him understand the basics of the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit. In the future, Frank and Sally will be providing some much needed help to me, so that I might take some time off from blogging when they're able to pick up the slack.
If you'd like to use this video, just click on the video and locate the "Embed" text box on that page. Copy and paste...that's all there is to it. All I ask is that you attribute it back to me and RErockstar.com.
Frank and Sally are fictional characters who do not represent any persons living, dead, or animated. Sally is not technically licensed in any state other than the virtual world, but her real estate knowledge is based on Texas real estate (I taught her everything I know). Frank likes Metallica, but Sally is more of an easy-listening kind of gal.

That's very cool Matt! Do you have to pay/subscribe to that site to make these videos? I like it!
Sincerely,
Kathleen
Thanks Matthew that is very cool. Nice of you to share, you are really good. I will use the embeded code for my consumers on my outside blog. So you get all the kudo's here.
Kathleen - No, you don't have to pay. Just register for an account at XtraNormal and away you go.
Missy - Thanks. It took me awhile to get a hang of the programming of the video, but once I figured it out, it was all just a matter of fine tuning it. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Once I get the actual file converted, I'll be uploading it to YouTube and such as well.
Your welcome, it was a little quirky getting the code captured. But, it is up so let me know if you get a Google Alert on it. I linked back to you, which should help as I have PR 4 on that site.
Great job Matt! Thanks for creating the video and Frank and Sally's great explanation!
This is a great explanation & I was very glad to have met Frank & Sally. Sally & I have a lot in common, I too am an easy listening kind of gal and a Realtor as well. :D. Love the vid Matt!
Huh...isn't the free account "solely for your personal, non-commercial use" ?
Love it Matt - you're a rock star!
is it me or does sally look a little like hillary clinton?
Matt - Sounds like you taught her quite a lot ! Sally is a great agent and Frank is lucky to have her ! Is a very clever and witty explanation of the tax credit. I did a similar post today with a video of Margaret Kelly : ) . Not as creative as yours !
I tried to copy and paste the code and jacked my website up! Where exactly to I paste it? Thanks!
Matt, that was totally cool. I like the birds in the background. Thansk so much for sharing with all of us.
Matt thanks for this really great way to explain the Tax Credit - if I can figure out how to copy and paste it to my outside blog I will (I'm a newbie on this stuff!)! GOOD JOB!!!
Missy - Can you explain what the problem was copying the code? Damon (below) had a problem with it. I'm curious as to what I could do to make it better.
Nyssa - Thanks. I was hoping to make something simple and entertaining without me going on and on for hours.
Kristin - Maybe I modeled Sally off of you? Haha.
Maureen - I read through the entire TOS and although this could be considered commercial, I consider it more of "how-to" video. Who knows if I'll fail their test, but hopefully they'll treat it better than Flickr if they do consider it commercial.
Anna - And I played on TV too.
Jay - You're the second person to mention that to me. She does.
Christopher and Stephanie - I saw Margaret's video on your blog as I was wrapping mine up. It's a well produced, clear video though, so I think it does the trick too.
Damon - Looks like you cut the code, opened up a new blog post and then pasted it in there. You need to enter HTML mode (there is a tab at the top of the editor, next to "WYSIWYG"). The embed code is all in HTML so it needs to be entered there. Check out Jeremy Blanton's post, "Inserting Video onto Your Active Rain Blog." You can use this technique for just about any video site as long as it has some sort of "embed" code available.
Kate - I was working with a funky theme song but it didn't seem to fit with the chat that was taking place. Maybe someday I'll get to use the music available.
Chuck - That's what I thought - something a little bit different than all the other videos that are out there right now.
Kathy - I see you reblogged it, which is just as cool. Thanks. Look above for my comment to Damon - check out that blog post by Jeremy Blanton as it will come in handy time and time again.
wow you really put some creativity into this
Gene - Thanks. It did take me awhile to get it all just the way I wanted.
Matt - loved your creative take on this. I'm gonna try to copy and paste it into a blog.
Matt - Very nicely done, my friend! I need to try using xtranormal.com sometime soon. :)
Very clever Matt. I also thought Sally looks like Hillary, it's the pantsuit and hair.
Linda Metallo, Re/max Impact, Lockport, Il
Ha ! This was great Matt - and 'different' is always more memorable than the usual !
Nicely done :o)
Lora - Good luck with the cut and paste.
Jason - It was fun. Not too hard to master. Best thing I learned was to get the basic text and camera positions down, then play, check for pauses, eye contact, and movement of the characters. Add pauses where necessary so they don't just rush through every sentence one after the other. I probably went back about 10 times to adjust little pieces of it.
Linda - I have a feeling they may have done her outfit that way on purpose.
Sheldon - That's what I thought - something a little out of the ordinary for me might spice things up a bit.
Matt,
Your video is really great! Very creative for getting information across...
I need to check into whether or not I can make these videos to be placed on a business site, if the videos themselves have nothing to do with business-- or if they just aren't allowed on business sites at all.
In the meantime, you inspired me to go check out the site, and I put together this little video... nothing as useful as yours, but it was fun to just play around with... http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/5665155/
Thanks for bringing this site to our attention.. I had never heard of it before!
Thanks so much for allowing re-blog on this! Loved it! Great job Matt.
Matt on YouTube you just click and it automatically highlights the embeded code.
On this site I had to do control A to grap it all.
It didn't grap it all when you just highlighted, sluggish and I thought I had it all.
They should add, copy to clip board and then it would all be grapped.
No worries, I wanted it bad enough I kept working on it to get it done.
Nice job Matt and thank you for the introduction to xtranormal.com. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of people signing upr for it.
Tim - Love the comedy of it. A little bit of dark humor goes a long way.
Christine - It's not terribly hard, just a bit time consuming at first.
Kris - Glad you liked it and thanks for the re-blog.
Missy - It's funny because on the sites that auto select all of it, I still tend to hit "copy" anyway.
Don - I certainly think it could come in handy for bloggers.
Greg - I'll probably toy with it some more and if I find it fully usable for my own purposes, I may just have to get a paid-version.
Matt, this is a gem of a find. Looking forward to trying it out... I feel a contest coming on!!
Matt, great blog and terrific idea. Thanks for allowing this post to be re-blogged, I'm going to do just that.
I've just spoken with Sally and she has some ideas for future vlogs. She really enjoyed all the feedback from everyone.
Matt - Cool video, and this explains the new tax credit very well. Kudos to you for being so creative!
